The centre of yoga, and life, is the breath, in asana or meditation we focus on the breath. It is our anchor and our sail, offering stability and strength or rest and relaxation, the breath is always there.
Breathing can enhance our yang, physical asana practice, or deep our yin, meditative practices.
I first became interested in yoga, not for the postures, but the breathing. I discovered the link between many powerful practices/meditations I had explored, was the breath. So I researched breathing itself and discovered that yoga had an in-depth study of the breath and breathing exercises called Pranayama.
Prana = life force energy Yama = restraint/control
Join me as we explore several different Pranayama exercises, and feel how such a simple and free tool can have such positive effects on the body and mind.
We will explore 6 of the main pranayama exercises in this first class.
